Food-safe way to tame shine

Under a 3x4 softbox, soups and braises pick up harsh speculars — I’ve been brushing a whisper of xanthan-thickened stock to even the sheen, but I’m after a truly food-safe matte solution that still reads appetizing on camera. Any products or kitchen-side hacks you trust that ship quickly in the U.S? Ideally it holds 20–30 minutes without dulling color.

Cross‑polarize the setup: slap a linear polarizing gel on your 3×4 softbox and a CPL on the lens, then rotate to kill those soup/braise speculars — nothing touches the food, and it stays consistent well past 20–30 minutes. You’ll lose about a stop and the gel can warm the light slightly, so nudge exposure and WB; quick ship option: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/44825-REG/Rosco_730011144030_E_Colour_7300_Polarizing_Filter.html.
